The Society

While the Prince Rupert Community Band and the Prince Rupert Rotary Community Choir have long histories in Prince Rupert, the Prince Rupert & Region Music Society only became a registered non-profit society in 2011. Our goal is to nurture the thriving Prince Rupert musical community and our dream to build a community music studio was finally realized in 2014. Continued dedication, hard work and generous support is helping us complete our financial commitment for the construction of the studio and to continue outfitting it with new equipment.
Society membership is open to all members of the public for a nominal fee. The Society is currently comprised of nearly 100 music supporters, with many members also participating in the Community Band, the Rotary Community Choir and various music ensembles.
The Community Band, Rotary Community Choir, Oompah Band, Rollin' Tones, Rupert Winds, and the Muskeg Swing Band regularly volunteer to perform at city functions and celebrations. They perform at myriad events - in all sorts of venues and in all kinds of weather. You'll find them at Seafest, Winterfest, and Canada Day celebrations as well as at smaller events such as caroling at the Acropolis Manor. The Society is open to all requests, and does its best to meet them with an appropriate performance group. Contact us if you'd like more information about having a group perform at your event.
